Swap within your home
How does swapping within my own home work?
With the swap feature, owners can now indicate which stays are "open to swap" if they have flexibility. We have found that our owners sometimes book time on the calendar but not have firmed up their plans. The swap feature allows owners to initiate swap requests with owners when there is calendar flexibility. All swap requests with other co-owners are done anonymously in the app.
How do I swap stays with other co-owners of my home?
If you mark your stays as “Open to swap,” you may receive swap requests from other co-owners who are interested in those dates. When you receive a swap request, you will have 48 hours to respond to the request or it will expire. In the request, you’ll be able to view the dates they have marked as swappable and decide if you want to proceed with the swap.
To initiate a swap request, select dates that are swappable in the Book tab (indicated with a purple tag on the List view or purple outline on the Calendar view). Once you request a swap, the co-owner will have 48 hours to review the swap. If they accept, the request will come back to you to confirm. Once the swap is confirmed, the stay will be booked on your calendar.
How do I know if other owners have “Open to swap” stays?
On the Book tab, there are two ways to view swappable stays from other co-owners:
List view: Stays that are open to swap will have a purple “Open to swap” tag on them. In the top right corner, you can filter the List View by tapping the “Open to swap” filter. This will surface all stays from other co-owners that are swappable.
Calendar view: Stays that are open to swap will have a purple outline around them. These stays are booked by another co-owner, but if you select dates that include them, you will be able to initiate a swap request with that owner.
How do I mark my stays as “Open to swap”?
Navigate to the Stays tab and tap on the stay that you want to make swappable. Then toggle “Open to swap” to ON.
When you are booking a new stay, the “Open to swap” toggle will also surface for you to turn ON if you would like to open it to swap.
How do SmartStay rules factor into swapped stays?
When you swap stays with a co-owner of your home, your stay request counts towards your stay count.
For example: If you are an owner of a 1/8 share with a special date already booked but you want to swap a different special date from another co-owner, you would be prompted to cancel your booked special date as you can only hold one special date at a time.
What happens when a swap is confirmed?
Once a swap is confirmed, it will be booked as a stay on your calendar. You can modify, cancel or add guests as you would with a regular stay. The stay you swapped with the other co-owner will become their stay.
How do I modify or cancel a swapped stay?
Once you have swapped a stay with another co-owner, that stay becomes a booked stay and comes out of your stay count. You can modify, cancel or add guests to the stay by going to the Stays tab and viewing the stay details.
What if I don’t want to receive any swap requests?
As a default, “Open to swap” is set to OFF for all your booked stays, which means they will appear as unavailable to other co-owners. If you do not wish to receive any swap requests, simply keep this setting turned off.
You’ll only receive requests when you have marked your stays as “Open to swap.” This means they will appear as swappable dates on the calendar.
Swap with another Pacaso
How do I swap stays with a friend who owns a different Pacaso?
To swap stays, you must first be connected in the Pacaso app. You can only connect with other Pacaso owners if they are your friends and family. To connect, go to Profile > Swap stays and share your unique link. Once your friend or family member has your link, they can accept or decline your connection request. To manage your connections, go to Profile > Swap stays. To remove a connection, tap the delete icon next to a connection.
Don’t have friends or family who own a Pacaso? Go to Profile > Refer to make a referral in your network.
Can I disable the swap feature for a connection?
Once you’re connected with another owner, your homes will appear under the Swap stays section of the Profile tab and be open to swapping.
If you do not wish to receive swap requests from a specific owner, you can remove them as a connection by accessing Profile > Swap stays and tapping on the delete icon.
What available dates can other owners see on my calendar?
You can open any of your booked stays to swap. As a default, swapping will be turned off for all stays. If you’d like to turn on a stay to swap, it will show up as an available date on the calendar for your connection to select.
Swapped stays will follow all SmartStay scheduling rules. For example, if your special date stay is not open to swap, your connections will not be able to see any special dates on your calendar because yours is already booked. If you turn “Open to swap” on, all special dates that are available on the calendar will be open for your connections to choose. If your connection selects a different special date as part of the swap, you will be prompted to cancel your flexible special date and replace it with the one they requested.
How do I request a swap?
Once you’ve connected with another owner, you can view the calendar for their home and request a swap. To view, go to the Home tab and tap Switch on the top right corner to toggle between home calendars and details.
Tap on a home and go to the Book tab to see its available dates. Once you choose a stay, you will be prompted to open any of your booked stays for swapping. Your connection will have 48 hours to accept or decline your request. You will be notified via email, push notifications and in-app alerts on the status of your request.
How do I accept or decline a swap?
You can view any swap requests from your connections in the Book and Stay tabs of the app. If you choose to accept their request, you’ll then select dates on their calendar to proceed. The request will go back to your connection to confirm within 48 hours. If you decline the swap, you will be prompted to provide a reason.
SmartStay rules apply to the owner requesting a swap. You or your connection may be prompted to replace or cancel an existing stay to proceed. If you do not respond to a swap request within 48 hours, it will be automatically declined, and your connection will be notified.
What happens when a swap is confirmed?
Once a swap between two owners is confirmed, it cannot be canceled or modified. Guests cannot be added to a swapped stay at this time.
What happens if I need to resell my share and have a confirmed swap?
The swap feature will still be honored in the event of a resale. The confirmed booking will remain on your calendar. If you have not stayed at your connection’s home, one of the available stays for your sold share will be at your connection’s Pacaso. If your connection has not stayed at your home, one of the stays for your share will be unavailable to buyers to honor your connection’s booked swap.
Is there a policy for swapping stays?
To enable the swap feature in the app, you will need to accept the following:
- Owners you connect with to swap are already your friends and family.
- You will be responsible for OpEx costs incurred in your home for stays booked with this feature.
- You will be responsible for cleaning fees and charges for any damage you incur in another home.
- You acknowledge that if you cause any damage to another Pacaso during a swapped stay, the swap feature and all connections will be permanently removed from your profile.
- You acknowledge that the swap feature is subject to change or cancellation at any time.
