The review period
The receiving owner has up to five days to review your request and decide whether or not to accept the swap.

Is a 1:1 swap required? Do I have to swap the same dates?
Without possessing swap credits, you must make a 1:1 swap, meaning you exchange your stay for another owner’s stay. However, you are not required to swap the same stay dates. For example, you could swap a stay in July for a stay in March. Your swap can also be imbalanced: For example, you can swap your Christmas stay for an advance stay in another home or even a 14-night stay for a 7-night stay.
When you swap a stay in your home, that stay follows your SmartStay rules. For example, if you swap your special date stay, you cannot book another special date until that stay enters the short-notice window.
How does Pacaso ensure fairness when browsing and selecting swaps?
Swaps are made available based on ownership share value. You can view and request stays up to $300,000 over your share value, ensuring that the swaps you explore are relevant and equitable. For example, if you own a $500,000 share, you can browse swap opportunities up to $800,000 in value.
Can I customize which swap offers I receive or see?
Yes! Pacaso’s swap preferences let you tailor your experience by favoriting specific homes or markets you're interested in and blocking ones that don’t fit your travel needs. This helps you receive more relevant swap requests and avoids offers you’re unlikely to accept. When you favorite homes homes or markets you’re interested in swapping with, you'll be notified when there is new swap availability.
What available dates can owners of other Pacaso homes see?
Only stays you have marked as “Open to swap in my home and other homes” will surface as available for owners of other homes to browse for and initiate swap requests. Available dates on the calendar are only accessible for co-owners of the home to book.
Swapped stays will follow all SmartStay scheduling rules. For example, if your special date stay is not open to swap, other owners cannot initiate a swap with you for that stay. However, if you do swap your special date stay, you won’t be able to book another special date until that stay enters the short-notice window.
How do I access swap credits?
Pacaso's intelligent swap scoring system identifies high-demand, high-value stays within the Pacaso portfolio. When high-valuable stays become available for swap, the system automatically generates a swap credit for the owner's stay. That stay continues to be swappable in the system for other owners to confirm, and the credit is instantly available in the owner's account, ready for immediate use.
How do I use swap credits?
Your swap credits can be used on any stay that's been made available for swap. Share value thresholds apply. When you find a stay that you like, you can use your credit to confirm the swap instantly, without waiting for owner approval. It's like having a flexible key to access new Pacaso homes.
