Reimagined Pacaso embraces the wine country vibe

Published Date: January 6, 2023

Seating Area
Nestled on 3.3 acres in the heart of Sonoma wine country, The Hollow is an inviting compound with an H-shaped main home, a distinctive butterfly-shaped roof and small vineyards in the front and back yards. The home’s unique architecture and splendid setting were the inspiration as our team, led by principal designer Erin Johns, turned the home into a perfect Pacaso. Johns, director of furniture and design at Dahlgren Duck, showcases the transformation of this spectacular Sonoma escape.

Unwind near the vines

The home’s beautiful grounds and location were core to the design process and to creating an unforgettable ownership experience. Erin’s insight: “This incredible compound is set into a world of sprawling hillsides and acts as a complement to nature’s beauty. With multiple vineyards surrounding the property, there’s no mistaking that you’re right in the middle of wine country, close enough to pick the grapes and know you’re part of something special. It’s truly a one-of-a-kind experience that we enhanced with every facet of the redesign process.”

Uncommon compound

Composed of several different buildings, all linked by the flow of the outdoor space, The Hollow is a welcoming combination of privacy, practicality and grandeur.Erin’s insight: I love the fact that the home is so functional for multiple families, couples or guests. It’s composed of multiple structures, each with its own living space and common areas. Keeping that experience at the forefront of the redesign was critical, as was carving out new opportunities to gather, relax and unwind.”

The outside world

The Hollow provides plenty of opportunities to enjoy nature. Dining, relaxing, swimming and gathering all feel like a breeze in the home’s redesigned outdoor spaces.Erin’s insight: The Hollow’s outdoor space is second to none. The pool is amazing. There’s a great shaded pergola for dining. And there are two outdoor living areas with cushy furniture to foster relaxation. Each space was designed to be distinct, but they are all connected by common design elements that reinforce the vineyard vibe and elevate enjoyability.”

Work wonders

Working from home feels like a treat in The Hollow’s reimagined office. This picture-perfect space is a private escape that makes your to-do list a pleasure.Erin’s insight: “What was once a storage room was transformed into an incredibly elegant office that makes working from home an experience to be remembered. It’s a fantastic space with lots of light and, because it’s separate from the main home, it’s beautifully quiet and secluded.”

Livable luxury

There’s something truly special about walking into a space that just feels like home. With its mix of functionality and sophistication, The Hollow’s design refresh elevates that feeling.Erin’s insight: The Hollow was redesigned to prioritize comfort and elegance. But what’s extra special about this property is how livable it is. When you walk into a beautiful space that’s also functional, it’s such a warm and inviting feeling. It’s designed so owners can picture themselves taking full advantage of each unique area, so much so that they may never want to leave.”
